Gold Saucer Looting Rules
Terminology
Main Job: primary job you are gearing
Sub Job: a secondary job you are gearing in addition to your Main Job
Current Job: the Job you are playing in Coil
<!> WARNING <!>
If your Current Job does not match your Main Job (or if it matches your Sub Job), the rules are more complicated, but doable.
The basic priority goes: Main Job → Sub Job → Lv 50 Job → Free-for-all
- First Law (Main Job)
- Roll Need if your Main Job can use the item
- If any member's Current Job != Main Job: all members with a Main Job claim to looted item will Roll Greed (No Need Rolling), all other members Pass
- Second Law (Sub Job)
- If the First Law cannot be applied, Roll Greed if your Sub Job can use the item - all other members Pass
- If your Current Job == Sub Job: all members with a Sub Job claim to looted item will Roll Greed (No Need Rolling), all other members Pass
- Third Law (lv 50)
- If the First and Second Law cannot be applied, Roll Greed if you have a level 50 that can use the item - all other members Pass
- Last Law (Free-for-all)
- If the First, Second, and Third Law cannot be applied, all members may roll greed
Notes:
- No one presses their Need/Greed/Pass buttons until members are instructed by the Group leader
- You are free to change your Sub Job once you have acquired all the pieces you want for that Sub Job. If you change Sub Job, you cannot switch back to avoid abusing this rule.
- You cannot switch your Main Job - unless it’s beneficial to the group to fill the roll for the sake of progression
We’ve Implemented this system to be as fair as possible with looting. We’ve encounter the following scenarios and believe this is the best way to handle them:
- Fresh Coil Group: All members are just entering Coil. Everyone’s Main Job should be their Current Job. Need Rolls will be flying everywhere.
- Seasoned Coil Group: Duplicate coil drops will inevitably happen. This is when Loot will start to fall into the hands of Sub Jobs.
- Seasoned Coil Group+: There will be instances where all Main Jobs and Sub Jobs either have the item or no one has a claim on the item. In this case, those members with the lv 50 Job(s) or intention to play the job should get priority.
Our goal is to provide monetary incentives for all members of all situations to Coil with respect to loot. The First Law is self-explanatory. The Second Law (Sub Job) is implemented to give players with only a single lv 50 Job incentive to run Coil if their Main Job is the current iLv maximum. The Third Law (lv 50) is implemented to give priority of Loot to those who can immediately use it if it doesn’t interfere with a Main or Sub Job claim.
With these rules, you will always have a reason (with respect to loot) to raid in coil. Whether you have a single Job at lv 50 and another Job that is on the rise, if you have Multiple Jobs at lv 50, or if you have all Jobs at lv 50.
